Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture Art is the largest museum displaying Cham artifacts in Vietnam. The first building of the Museum was built in 1915. In fact, more than 20 years earlier, many Cham sculptures found in Da Nang, Quang Nam and neighboring provinces were concentrated on the site. This is called “tourane park”.
The collection of Cham sculptures starting in the late 19th century is the merits of the French people who love archeology, especially those who work for the French School of the Far East of the Old Uncle (L’) École Française d’ Extrême – Orient, abbreviated as EFEO). Some of the Cham sculptures have been transferred to France, others to the Museum in Hanoi and the Museum in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), but most of the typical works are still preserved back in Da Nang.
