Da Nang to Hue day trip

We will go over Hai Van Pass (Sea-Cloudy Pass) of 20km of length. This pass is natural border between Thua Thien Hue Province and Da Nang City. This is a very famous sightseeing on the way from Da Nang to Hue. Let’s make a stop at the top of the pass to enjoy panorama view of Da Nang City from 500m above sea level.
Continue to Hue City. On the way, we can take a short rest at Lap An Lagoon. At this rest stop, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Lap An Lagoon, free your feet by walking on sand islet and drink a cup of Vietnamese coffee before heading to Hue City.
Upon arrival, we will visit Tu Duc Tomb. Tu Duc Tomb, located 8km from the centre of Hue, is situated on Duong Xuan Mountains in Duong Xuan Thuong Village on the bank of Perfume River. Construction of the tomb in an enclosure of 475ha started in 1864 and was completed in 1887. The tomb, also called Tomb of Modesty, is enclosed by a thick wall that runs up and down the hills. There are several other buildings suitable for the king’s residence.
Continue to Hue City Center, we will drive along Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda – The oldest pagoda in Hue. Situated on Ha Khe Hill near the Perfume River, Thien Mu Pagoda is 5km from Hue. The oldest pagoda in Hue was built by the governor of the city, Nguyen Hoang, in 1601. He had a vision in which an old woman was telling him that the site had supernatural powers and that a pagoda should mark the site. Emperor Thieu Tri later annexed a tower in 1844. The 7-storey, 21m octagonal tower was built in honor of Nhu Lai Buddha and The Ton.
The pagoda badly destroyed in 1943. The priest Thich Don Hau, who managed the pagoda back then, carried out great renovations that lasted 30 years. The complex includes two zones. The towers are in the front and the temples are in the back. The three temples include Dai Hung, Dia Tang and Quan The Am. Have lunch at local restaurant.
In the afternoon, depart to visit the Hue Capital Citadel. This construction started in 1805 under the reign of Emperor Gia Long and completed in 1832 under the reign of Emperor Minh Mang. Under Nguyen’s reign, the Kings ordered to build ramparts, palaces and constructional works of royal. Over 200 years to now, it is still original with nearly 140 small and large constructions.
We will visit in turn of: The Flag Tower, The Nine Holy Cannons, Noon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, Thai Temple, The Nine Dynastic Urns, Hien Lam Cac and Hue Antique Museum.
