Hoi An Ancient Town has the area of 28 ha. It’s located at the central part of Hoi An City – QuangNam Province. Hoi An Ancient Town includes 3 main streets: Tran Phu, Nguyen Thai Hoc and Bach Dang. Hoi An was the place where Catholicism, Buddhism first spread in Dang Trong and where Quoc Ngu (National language using the Roman Alphabet) was firstly created in the 17th century, also was the interchanging place of cultures from Champa, Vietnam, China, Japan, India, Southeast Asia and Western countries. Hoi An Ancient Town includes over 1.360 relics divided into civil works (houses, bridges, wells, markets) and religious works (communal houses, pagodas, tombs, temples, assembly halls).

Firstly, we will visit Japanese Covered Bridge – The symbol of Hoi An. This bridge was built by Japanese merchants around the 17th century. The bridge is made of wood on piers made of brick and stone, about 18m long, with a roof, curved over the creek flowing into the Thu Bon River. According to legend story, the temple-bridge is considered as a sword that pierced the back of the monster Namazu, preventing it from wagging its tail, causing earthquakes.

Countinue to Tan Ky Ancient House – where Le Family have lived during 7 generations. The house has the quintessential interference architecture of 3 Chinese – Japanese – Vietnamese cultures, including 2 floors and 3 spaces. The old house is over 200 years old and this is the most beautiful ancient house in the old town.

Next, we will visit Phuc Kien Assemlby Hall – A typical construction with Chinese architecture. The Phuc Kien Assembly Hall is a place to worship Lady Thien Hau Thanh Mau and the guardian gods of water, money, children, ancestors, and a place to meet fellow countrymen and help each other out of the Fujian people who came to Hoi An earliest and most crowded.

Countinue the Hoi An Walking tour by visiting Quan Cong Temple. It was built in the middle of the 17th century, worshiping Quan Cong – a famous general of the Three Kingdoms period, in order to praise his kindness and loyalty. This is considered one of the oldest and most important religious works in Hoi An.

Visiting Hoi An Market to see the daily activities of local people at the biggest market in the town. The tour guide guide will explain the role of the market in the lives of the local people and show you how the stalls are arranged as well as the Vietnamese people’s shopping habits.
